Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy For Men
While not as widely discussed as menopause is for women, andropause is very real for men just as menopause is significant for women. Our BHRT program for men focuses on the unique needs of men who are suffering from andropause or low testosterone. The Program includes bioidentical hormone replacement (testosterone) when clinically indicated combined with nutritional guidance, nutritional supplementation recommendations and an optional exercise component.
Younger men, late 20s, 30s, can have Low T as well. Due to genetics, taking body building supplements and some environmental factors (like mold exposure), you can have Low T earlier than the norm. We can treat you as well. We have some therapies that help to restore your internal production, but if those don’t work, Testosterone replacement can be commenced with younger men as well to help them be the test they can be.
Depending on lab results and patient goals, the program may also include peptides to help patients optimize their health and body composition. Peptides, especially CJC1295/Ipamorelin, are helping men to optimize body composition and quality of life. If you can identify with some of the symptoms below, you are likely experiencing low testosterone / andropause and are a candidate for laboratory testing to determine if BHRT is right for you.

Here is what one recent patient had to say in his own words:
“Dr. Lawson,
BHRT was my missing link. I truly believe it helped get me over the hump for full body wellness. Along with diet and exercise, it’s the 3rd piece of the body puzzle. Thanks to you and your regimen, I’ve accelerated my monthly fatloss by over 25% since we met 3 months ago, while also gaining measurable muscle mass and improved recovery from joint surgery. Although there is no magic bullet, understanding that as we age, the body no longer produces (as much of) what it used to make, and both supplementing those substances and how important hormones are to well-being and health are of huge importance. Keep up the great work and thank you again.“

Male Hormone Replacement
What are Bioidentical Hormones? Bioidentical hormones, also known as natural hormones, are substances that have the same chemical structure as the hormones that are produced by the human body, and they also create the same physiologic response. Hormones are NOT drugs. They are naturally occurring substances that are found in all humans since the time of conception. BHRT replaces hormones at a “physiologic” level that is not harmful to the body. Physiologic levels never exceed what the individual has already been accustomed to in his or her younger years.
Is “BHRT for men” the same thing as the more popular term “Low T” treatment men? The answer is yes and no. To the extent that they both involve administering Testosterone replacement to enhance male health, the answer is yes. But our BHRT for men program seeks to also optimize DHEA, another critical hormone, Pregnenolone (the hormone for memory) and Estradiol (Yes, men need to have an optimal amount of Estradiol as well as women). Many Low T programs focus exclusively on Testosterone and perhaps aromatase inhibitors which are needed for men that convert Testosterone to Estradiol at too high a rate. But Low T programs tend to give all men aromatase inhibitors, although from our research and data from our patient population, only about 10% of men need an aromatase inhibitor. Our goal is to balance all of the hormones, not just Testosterone to make you the best that you can be.
Are Bioidentical Hormones FDA Approved? We use FDA approved bioidentical hormones (natural hormones) whenever possible to restore low testosterone levels to more youthful levels; however, when a dosage or strength that the patient requires is not commercially available, we use a compounding pharmacy to prepare an individualized prescription. Compounding pharmacists must comply with the regulation of the state boards of pharmacy, and they have access to the highest grade bulk ingredients as well as state-of-the art equipment used to accurately prepare hormone preparations. Close monitoring of the patient by PWC helps to promote maximum benefits and safety.
Beyond the benefits listed above, studies have validated that BHRT for men improves insulin resistance, reduces waist circumference, reduces body fat, lowers hemoglobin A1C and improves sexual performance. Check the references below:

- After 30 weeks, the men who took testosterone saw some improvements in their erections, orgasms, and sexual desire. They were more satisfied with intercourse and with their sexual activities overall.
