Chronic Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Approach
Mold, Lyme, Parasites, EBV and other reactivated viruses can ruin your health and leave you in pain, discomfort and puzzled. Many of you were healthy before some triggering event, then your health made a serious downturn, sometimes gradually and sometimes with a more rapid onset.
In many cases, you have sought help through conventional doctors and may have been prescribed an anti-depressant or other medications that didn’t help. In other cases, you have sought some of the most well know medical establishments including the Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins and for children maybe even Children’s Hospitals. Despite your efforts, you are either worse or only modestly better.
If this sounds like you, then you may have finally found the practice that provides real help and real hope for patients with misdiagnosed chronic disease. The problem is that not too many doctors have trained and studied across a broad spectrum of chronic Fatigue Syndrome disease so they may be very good at Lyme, but know little about Mold. Or they may not be aware of reactivated viruses and the relatively recent insurgence of parasites. At Proactive, our team has been trained by and studies with some of the best practitioners in the US in each of these domains. They are skilled at the art of “differential diagnosis”, plus they are careful to avoid the “lock on”/”lock out” fallacy. We have to remember that you can have more than one disease and in more than 50% of our chronically ill patients, we find more than one etiology.
Once diagnosed completely through an array of basic and advanced lab testing including highly-specialized testing for heavy metals, tickborne illnesses, mold, Lyme borrelia and its coinfections and reactivated viruses, we define a comprehensive treatment plan to stabilize, stop, reverse and maintain the progress that has been accomplished through various interventions. Our overall treatment approach is depicted by the graphic below.
Successful treatment plans have the following common tenets:
- The right interventions
- At the right time
- In the right amounts
The order depicted in the graphic is important. Due to the immune dysregulating effects of CIRS, we must begin here with treatment if testing reveals a CIRS diagnosis. Detoxification strategies are also introduced early since invariably chronically ill patients have detoxification challenges and insufficiency. Fixing the “terrain” and rebalancing the immune system happens throughout the process as literally all of the chronic Fatigue Syndrome diseases impact immune system balance. Rebalancing the immune system also means addressing any diagnosed gut issues like leaky gut/intestinal permeability.
Our “toolbox” is very large as we leverage highly targeted nutraceuticals, herbals, medications, lifestyle changes (diet/nutrition), hormone replacement, detoxification support including infrared sauna and targeted peptide medications.
