Below, our five step approach to assessing patients and implementing a significant risk reduction for Heart Attack and Stroke program is described.
STEP 1: Get started online right now or contact us for further information
Click here to get started with our 5 step online registration process now. After completing a short demographic enrollment, activating your profile and logging back into our secure patient portal, you will be guided through completing your health history form, HIPAA Acknowledgement, providing your payment information for the initial consult and making your appointment—all online and easy to to!
Or, if you prefer you may contact Proactive Wellness Centers at 703-822-5003 Ext 5 to start the intake process. You will have a brief telephone conversation with our Patient Educator or our Physician/Medical Director to answer any questions that you have. If you are a candidate for one of our programs, you will be directed to our secure online intake process or if you prefer, we can provide the intake forms by mail or fax. At the end of this process, you will be given access to our 24×7 online appointment scheduling system and advised to set your appointment for 5-7 days from the day you go to the lab.
STEP 2: Go to the Lab
Using the health history form, a physician will review your health history, chief complaint and prepare a lab requisition for you. The lab requisition will be sent to you through our secure portal and you may go to either Quest or Labcorp depending on your insurance and preference to have your blood drawn. In 5-7 days, your results will be transmitted to us and we will review them prior to your initial consultation and develop our treatment plan recommendations prior to your initial visit. This approach, while unconventional, allows for a much more productive initial visit.
STEP 3: Initial Consultation
The initial consultation is 1 ½ hours long and consists of a review of your family history, past medical history, current medical problems, risks factors for preventable diseases, nutritional history, toxic substance exposure history and recent symptoms. Additionally, all of your laboratory results will be reviewed with you in detail. We explain the concept of “optimal ranges” versus the traditional concept of “reference ranges”. At this point, it is the patient’s choice to commence with the any program or not. Note that we do not prescribe medications for patients not on one of our programs.
STEP 4: Starting the right program for YOU
Our Advanced Cardiac Evaluation (ACE) Program that uses a combination of leading-edge biomarkers and diagnostic tools including the CIMT to provide a more complete risk profile and even detection of early stages of disease. For patients where these tests reveal disease formation, we have created the Advanced Cardiac Treatment (ACT) Program to bring patients the latest in scientifically validated protocols to prevent, reverse and mitigate these disease processes. For patients where there is no disease formation, then our Wellness Programs will provide the hormone replacement (if needed), nutritional supplementation, dietary recommendations, and address any other imbalances detected in our thorough assessment.
STEP 5: Follow-Up
Appropriate followup is the key to the success of our program since every person is biochemically unique. Accordingly, no two people respond to medications the same way. Our program is a “high touch” program by design, meaning that we provide each patient with individualized attention and direct access to the physician. The program requires new lab work and a reevaluation within the first three months of treatment, and either quarterly or every six months thereafter depending on the results, for the first year. If the levels stabilize, less frequent reevaluations are required for the second and additional years.
