Help Reverse Cognitive Decline with

Bredesen Protocol Alzheimers Treatment in Sterling, VA

There's no way around it: Getting diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease can be both scary and disheartening for patients and their loved ones. The cognitive impairment, memory loss, and eventual cognitive decline can seem like a grim prognosis. Unfortunately, the standard reductionist approach seeking to identify a single silver bullet cure doesn't account for the multifactorial nature of Alzheimer's disease.

That's why treating Alzheimer's disease requires a multifaceted response from functional medicine. While there is no single drug that can cure Alzheimer's, protocols addressing the nuanced factors contributing to the disease can make a difference. That's where Proactive Wellness Centers and Bredesen protocol treatment in Sterling, VA comes into play.

Alzheimer's Treatment Sterling, VA

The Proactive Wellness Approach to Brain Health

At Proactive Wellness, we firmly believe that brain health is an essential part of your overall well-being. However, despite the emergence of new research, there has been limited understanding of how to promote brain health effectively. This includes reducing the risk of dementia/Alzheimer's and stabilizing cognitive decline in patients with early symptoms. Dr. Lawson, an esteemed Bredesen Protocol practitioner and ReCode 2.0 Certified with 17 years of experience in functional medicine can identify and address the root cause of cognitive decline in you or your loved one.

Dr. Lawson's goal isn't to replace the role of family physicians. Rather, we collaborate with primary care physicians, internists, and other medical professionals to provide a comprehensive approach to care. We believe that every individual is unique from a physiological perspective, and therefore, we avoid a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, our programs focus on a customized approach, addressing risk factors that, if avoided or modified, could have beneficial effects for men and women who have dementia.

Our programs have a strong emphasis on slowing down and reversing the aging process, preventing diseases, and treating chronically ill patients. To achieve this, we employ a three-pronged approach:

  • We empower patients with the knowledge they need to manage their health and attain optimal well-being.
  • We prioritize disease prevention by conducting a thorough evaluation with the help of comprehensive diagnostics and the patient's health history form.
  • We collaborate with patients to implement a rejuvenation program that includes various science-based treatments, like our Brain Health Optimization Program (BHOP) for people suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's

One of the most popular and effective programs we offer includes Bredesen protocol treatment in Sterling VA. This revolutionary approach to dementia has provided hope and improved cognitive function for countless people in the US. But to understand the importance of the Bredesen protocol, it's important that you first understand dementia, Alzheimer's, and its effect on people across the world.

The Wide-Reaching Effects of

Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia

There are currently more than 5.8 million individuals in the United States who are living with Alzheimer's disease. It is predicted that the number of individuals with Alzheimer's disease will more than double by 2050.

Dementia is a type of cognitive decline that affects mental abilities. There are many different causes and complex layers involved. Cognitive impairment is characterized by abnormal results on tests measuring memory, speech, critical thinking, and other cognitive abilities, but individuals with this diagnosis are still capable of performing daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Without proper treatment, Alzheimer's disease is likely to follow within a few years. Alzheimer's disease is the most prevalent form of dementia, and it is diagnosed through neuro-imaging and analysis of cerebrospinal fluid.

In the past, being diagnosed with Alzheimer's was often worse than receiving a death sentence. It was dehumanizing and stripped individuals of their memories, thinking abilities, and independence. However, after three decades of research, we now have a greater understanding of this devastating illness and even solutions like Bredesen protocol treatment in Sterling, VA that can help patients deal with dementia.

What Causes Dementia?

Dementia is caused by a normal and healthy brain process that malfunctions due to a toxic environment, inflammation, and a lack of necessary nutrients and hormones. The brain's defense mechanism produces amyloid plaques, which serve as a protective helmet around the brain. Unfortunately, these plaques destroy connections between nerve cells, ultimately affecting comprehension, recollection, and clarity.

Dementia by the Numbers

It's important to understand the impact of Alzheimer's disease (AD) around the world. According to the CDC, AD is present in 50% of patients in nursing homes and causes more than 110,000 deaths annually in the US. It was the 6th leading cause of death in 2015. More than 5 million people in the US are affected by AD, and recent data indicates that the problem is getting worse.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 47 million people around the world are currently living with dementia, and this number is expected to rise to 75 million by 2030 and 132 million by 2050. Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia, accounting for 60 to 80 percent of all cases.

While reading those statistics can be disheartening, there's reason to be hopeful. New therapies and treatments offered at Proactive Wellness - like Bredesen protocol treatment - can help patients deal with dementia and cognitive decline.

The Power of

Bredesen Protocol Treatment in Sterling, VA

The Bredesen Protocol is a highly personalized treatment program that aims to reverse cognitive decline and improve brain function in patients. Dr. Bredesen has designed the protocol to be adaptable and customizable, tailored to the specific symptoms and needs of each patient.

The program is centered around lifestyle changes, medication, and nutritional adjustments, all of which are tailored to address the unique symptoms and environmental factors that may be contributing to cognitive decline. This approach, referred to as ReCODE, helps patients to combat brain fog and prevent the onset of dementia.

It has also helped patients improve cognitive function significantly, reverse symptoms, and even return to work. The ReCODE program comprises lifestyle interventions, therapeutic diets, and targeted nutrients. Proactive Wellness Centers is thrilled to offer this promising treatment modality for Alzheimer's disease to benefit our patients.

It all starts with a baseline Bredesen evaluation at our wellness clinic in Sterling, VA.

Baseline Bredesen Evaluation from

Proactive Wellness Centers

At Proactive Wellness Centers, we have two ways to help patients who are in search of Bredesen protocol treatment in Sterling, VA. The first option is our Baseline Bredesen Evaluation, which is best suited for asymptomatic patients - that is, individuals who do not exhibit any significant cognitive decline beyond what is expected with age. Dr. Bredesen classifies such patients as "PreCode."

This evaluation serves as a starting point for PreCode patients, as well as those who are unsure of their cognitive status and potential risk factors. Our baseline evaluation includes the following:

The first step involves conducting a comprehensive set of baseline labs to evaluate your overall health, closely following the Bredesen protocol. This step goes beyond standard labs that you might have for a physical. It includes tests for magnesium, zinc, and selenium levels, B6, B12, and folate levels, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acid levels.

It also includes

  • Pre-Diabetes Evaluation
  • Hormone Level Evaluation
  • Thyroid Level Evaluation
  • Specific Immune Marker Evaluation such as TH1, TH2, IL6, and TNF.

Our goal with this assessment is to establish a starting point and compare your cognitive function against what is typical for your age group. We have chosen to use the CNS Vital Signs cognitive assessment, which is widely recognized as one of the best in the industry. Additionally, we will be conducting the standard MoCA test as part of the evaluation.

A DNA test is performed to identify the specific APOE genotype present in your DNA. APOE e4 has been shown to be associated with an increased chance of late-onset Alzheimer's disease, which occurs after a person is 65 years old.

This step covers your lab results and includes a detailed plan of action to address areas of improvement as identified in your baseline evaluation.

What are the Early Signs of

Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease?

As we grow older, it can be difficult to distinguish between normal changes in our cognitive abilities and the initial signs of dementia. The issue with preventing chronic illnesses is that we often believe we are healthy as long as we don't experience any symptoms, but this is not entirely accurate. Symptoms are typically the last indicator of a disease, meaning it has already progressed by the time they appear.

While it's always best to catch diseases before you notice symptoms, taking proactive measures at the first sign of cognitive changes can greatly impact the aging of your brain and body. It's crucial to act immediately if you're experiencing the following symptoms of Mild Cognitive Impairment. That way, ,you have a better chance of preventing the development of Alzheimer's.

Get ready to gas up the snow blower, pull out the rock salt and get the shovels ready, DC, Maryland, and Virginia, snow expected this weekend could trigger an East Coast bomb cyclone as a coastal storm revs up, according to the National Weather Service.

Another snow storm coming to DC, Baltimore, Maryland, Virginia and along the East Coast could unleash a powerful nor'easter and bomb cyclone, with chances of "significant" snow in coastal Virginia Beach areas and in south and southeast Virginia possible, according to the latest NOAA NWS weather forecast. The timing of the storm, predicted snowfall amounts this weekend and duration of the snowstorm coming to the DC region, VA and MD this weekend rely on the coastal snow storm track and intensity, according to the latest NOAA National Weather Service and AccuWeather forecast.

The NWS Wakefield VA and Sterling VA offices issued a winter storm watch in Virginia from late Friday, Jan. 30, to Sunday afternoon, Feb. 1, with 3 to 7 inches of snow expected and high wind gusts, which could cause dangerous travel conditions. The latest winter storm forecast comes amid a stretch of exceedingly rare and dangerous cold temperatures and wind chills through the weekend. The NWS Baltimore/Washington Office issued cold weather advisories across Washington, DC, and Baltimore, Maryland areas.

Here's what to know about the timing of this weekend's snow storm, when and how much snow will fall in the DC area, Virginia, and Maryland, live weather radar, predicted snowfall amounts, and the MD, VA and DC weather forecast this weekend.

Is another snow storm coming? Will there be snow this weekend?

Yes, it is going to snow this weekend in DC, Virginia and eastern Maryland and Delaware areas with another winter storm coming to the East Coast, bringing what could be significant snow this weekend, with heavy snow expected in the Carolinas and southern Virginia from Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, through Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, according to the National Weather Service.

NWS Wakefield issued a winter storm watch across central, east central, eastern, south central and southeast Virginia amid an extreme cold watch in Washington, DC areas, Baltimore, Maryland, and Virginia. NOAA's NWS issued a hazardous weather outlook for the Maryland portion of the Chesapeake Bay, and I-95 corridor through central Maryland and into DC.

The DC metro area could see travel delays and airport cancellations, power outages, dangerous roadway conditions with intense coastal flooding along the Virginia coast as a bomb cyclone and nor'easter unfurl.

How much snow are we getting in DC area?

In Washington DC and Baltimore metro areas, snowfall predictions are 1 to 3 inches, according to AccuWeather and the National Weather Service weather forecast. In the latest weather update today, NOAA said the track of the East Coast storm could skirt out to sea, passing inland areas and bringing snowfall total down. Or, the coastal scraper could move several miles and bring expected snowfall totals up.

The storm's path appears to be shifting east into the Atlantic, according to updated snowstorm maps from NWS' Weather Prediction Center.

When will the snow start?

AccuWeather's weather forecast for DC metro area shows snow starting at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026 and continue through 7 a.m. ET Sunday, Feb. 1. In Virginia, snow is expected to start late Friday night, Jan. 30, and continue through Sunday afternoon, Feb. 1, according to NOAA's National Weather Service. In Maryland, snow is likely to fall daytime Saturday, Jan. 31.

How many inches of snow expected in Virginia? Snow bomb this weekend?

Highest snowfall is expected with up to 10 inches of snow south and southeast Virginia, with possible blizzard conditions Saturday night, Jan. 31, into Sunday morning, Feb. 1, the NWS Wakefield VA office said. Areas in central, east central, eastern, south central and southeast Virginia will see lesser amounts, from 2 inches and up to 8 inches. Check your local Virginia weather forecast at NOAA.

An East Coast bomb cyclone is expected to scrape the coastal Virginia Beach areas, including Norfolk, Front Royal, and Richmond, unleashing heavy snow, wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph and near-zero visibility, causing travel issues and serious flooding during high tide. A winter weather watch is also in effect.

Are we getting snow this weekend in MD? Snow forecast

A coastal storm this weekend headed to Maryland could drop about an inch of snow to the Baltimore area between Saturday night, Jan. 31 through Sunday morning, Feb.1, according to AccuWeather and the National Weather Service.

A higher chance of snow is expected along the Chesapeake Bay and southern Maryland coast should the East Coast bomb cyclone strengthen into a coastal clipper.

In Baltimore, Maryland, I-95 areas, central and western Maryland, snowfall amounts are expected to be from 1 to 3 inches — but the forecast is still too early to predict timing and track of the snow storm. To see your local forecast updates at the NWS Baltimore/Washington Office, head here.

WellCraft Kitchen and Bath helps homeowners in Sterling and Northern Virginia decide whether to renovate a kitchen or bathroom first when budgets are limited. The company advises prioritizing resale value, daily comfort, safety, and hidden issues like leaks or code problems. Professional assessments help determine which space truly needs attention first. WellCraft Kitchen and Bath operates as a remodeling contractor in Sterling and across Northern Virginia. The company recently shared insights on a question that keeps homeowners awake at night: which room to renovate first when money only stretches far enough for one project. Most families face this exact scenario. Both spaces need work. The budget covers one renovation, maybe. Choosing wrong means years of regret, watching the other room deteriorate while scraping together savings all over again.

The work WellCraft Kitchen and Bath handles covers kitchens and bathrooms from start to finish. Cabinets get designed, built, and installed. Countertops go in. Layouts change when walls need moving. Floors get replaced. Old fixtures come out, new ones go in. WellCraft Kitchen and Bath sits down with people who need help figuring out where their money goes first. Some homes have kitchens falling apart.

WellCraft Kitchen and Bath breaks down how to actually think through this decision. Selling the house soon? Kitchen remodeling [https://www.google.com/maps?cid=7424850969680940928] projects usually return more money and get buyers through the door faster. Staying put for the next decade or longer? Fix whatever room makes daily life miserable right now. A kitchen with ugly countertops but working appliances causes less damage than a bathroom where the shower pan leaks and water damage spreads through the subfloor into the ceiling below. Money matters too. Complete kitchen renovations cost more than most bathroom projects.

"People torture themselves over this choice because they know they're stuck with whatever they decide for a long time," a company spokesperson said. "Here's what we tell them: if you cook at home constantly, if the kitchen layout makes you want to scream every time three people try to use it at once, if buyers in your area won't touch homes with outdated kitchens, then the kitchen goes first. But if your mother-in-law's moving in and she can't step over a tub wall, or if black mold covers half the bathroom ceiling, or if the toilet leaks through the floor every time someone flushes it, that bathroom jumps to the front of the line no matter what. Safety beats everything else."

People in Sterling searching for remodeling services near me need to stop guessing and start getting professional eyes on both rooms. WellCraft Kitchen and Bath goes through homes and finds problems owners miss during their own inspections. Structural issues hiding behind walls. Code violations from previous owners. Water damage that hasn't shown up as visible stains yet. Knowing what's actually wrong in both spaces, not just what looks bad from the doorway, changes which project makes sense to tackle first. Sometimes the room that seems fine actually needs more work than the obviously outdated space. Kitchen remodeling Sterling VA decisions should come from informed assessments rather than assumptions about which room matters more.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. — Three people are in the hospital after a fire at a nursing home in Sterling on Thursday morning, after an "electrical event" in an HVAC unit on the property.

Firefighters with the Loudoun County Fire Department were called to the Potomac Falls Health and Rehab Center in the 46000 block of Leesburg Pike around 7:30 a.m. for a report of a fire. Responding crews were able to evacuate the building. Three civilians were taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries, but details about those injuries, as well as their severity, have not been made public.

"Three residents were transported to area hospitals for further evaluation, and eight occupants were treated and/or released on scene," officials said in a press release Thursday afternoon.

Eleven residents were evaluated by EMS personnel and three residents were transported to Reston Hospital Center and Inova Loudoun Hospital – Lansdowne for further evaluation. One patient was later transferred to the Washington Hospital Burn Center for specialized care. Eight residents refused care after being evaluated by fire and rescue units.

Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the blaze and remained on scene to make sure the building was safe for residents.

Investigators say the fire was caused by an "electrical event" in an HVAC unit in a patient's room on the ground floor and caused more than $963,000 in damage.

Leesburg Pike was closed for the fire response, but has since reopened to traffic.

Additional details, including damage estimates to the building, are not yet known. We are working to confirm more information and will update this story as soon as we know more.
