Providing Natural Solutions for Male Sexual Health
There’s not much we can count on in life, but if there’s one guarantee, we can bet that our bodies change as we grow older. That’s especially true for men as they age. One moment you’re partying at the club, waking up refreshed, and hitting the gym. The next moment, getting out of bed is a chore. You’re sore in places you never thought before, and hangovers don’t just go away after a hot shower and a big breakfast.
And while sore joints and backaches can be treated with aspirin and ice, other signs of aging aren’t as easy to treat. Of course, we’re talking about erectile dysfunction or ED for short. Hearing those words sends shivers down most men’s spines. It makes sense – looking through your search history and finding phrases like “ED doctor near me in Lorton, VA” is a scary thought.
If you’re beginning to suffer from ED or you’ve been dealing with performance issues for some time, it may seem like nobody understands your stress. However, ED is very common. More than 18 million men suffer from the condition in the U.S. Unfortunately, many of those men hide their performance issues without ever addressing them. If you’re one of those men, and it feels like you’re stuck in a rut with no help, we’re here to tell you you’re not alone. Proactive Wellness Centers, PLC is here to provide you with a long-lasting solution to help you regain confidence and perform like you used to.
The Proactive Wellness Center Difference
Our programs are all about reversing and slowing the aging process, preventing disease, and treating chronically ill patients. We utilize a three-pronged approach:
01. We equip patients with the knowledge required to take charge of their health and achieve optimal well-being.
02. We focus on disease prevention by providing a thorough evaluation using comprehensive diagnostics and the information provided on the patient’s health history form.
03. We work with patients to implement a rejuvenation program consisting of various science-based treatments that reduce cellular degeneration, promote tissue regeneration and healing, and slow down the aging process.
Unlike some anti-aging clinics, we do not replace the family physician’s role. Instead, we work with primary care physicians, internists, and other medical professionals to provide optimum levels of integrated care. We consider every individual as physiologically unique. As such, we don’t subscribe to a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Instead, our programs focus on a customized approach, addressing risk factors that, if avoided or modified, could have beneficial effects for reducing many chronic conditions that men suffer from year-round.
Our vision is to provide the latest in scientifically-validated therapies for reversing the aging process, preventing chronic disease, and optimizing health. That way, men can stop searching for ED clinic near me in Lorton, VA and instead, start living their lives to the fullest.

What is GAINSWave Therapy?
If you have ED or even a minor decline in sexual performance, there's a good chance you've already seen your primary care doctor. You've talked to them about the issues you're facing. And, if they're like many doctors, they prescribed you some pills and sent you on your way. Unfortunately, going this route doesn't do much to solve erectile dysfunction - you're just putting a band-aid on the problem. Plus, you're putting strange chemicals in your body via a "little blue pill" that may cause adverse side effects.
At the end of the day, you need a real-deal solution to ED, not a quick fix. The good news? A safe, non-invasive, injection-free answer to your problems exists. It’s called GAINSWave therapy, and according to recent studies, it has shown an 85-92% success rate for mild to moderate cases of erectile dysfunction.
Reports from men who have been looking online for “ED treatment near me in Lorton, VA” report the following benefits:
- Stronger, Longer Lasting Erections
- Improved Sexual Pleasure
- More Blood Circulation and Flow
- Better Girth and Length
- Less Rest Needed Between Orgasms
- Enhanced Intimacy in the Bedroom
Unlike many ED treatments, you don’t have to worry about surgery or drugs when you choose GAINSWave. This revolutionary treatment uses acoustic wave technology, also called pulse wave therapy, instead of surgery or pills, which boosts erectile strength and, by proxy, confidence.
But the benefits of GAINSWave don’t end there. This therapy also breaks up micro plaques and boosts nitric oxide, which forms new blood vessels and collagen. That’s exciting news for men suffering from Peyronie’s disease, which is another condition specific to male sexual health.

What Makes GAINSWave Therapy Work?
With time, men’s blood flow decreases, sensitivity isn’t what it once was, and blood vessels start to get thinner. With GAINSWave, high-frequency, low-intensity shockwaves rejuvenate areas of the penis that have suffered with age. For instance, micro plaques are removed, new blood vessels form, and blood flow increases. According to several clinical studies, enhanced blood flow from GAINSWave translates to more sustainable, rigid erections in 75% of men. For males who have struck out countless times looking for an “ED doctor near me” online, these stats are exciting.
Ans while we’re only beginning to realize the benefits of GAINSWave, it’s a treatment that has been used for over a decade around the world. Backed by science and proven to rejuvenate vasculature in male erections, GAINSWave works without any pain or recovery time. In fact, it’s possible to pop into Proactive Wellness Centers on your lunch break for a therapy session.
Proactive Wellness Centers’ GAINSWave treatments feature:
- Low-Intensity Pulse or Shockwaves
- All Natural
- No Needles
- No Pills
- No Pain
- No Surgery
- Little-to-No Recovery Time
- Quick Procedures
Because this procedure is needle, surgery, and drug-free, most men don’t have to suffer through costly insurance claims or unsightly scarring. With GAINSWave and our comprehensive and personalized ED treatment plans, all you need to focus on is enjoying life, knowing your erectile dysfunction is a thing of the past.
Who Are the Best Candidates for Gainswave Therapy in Lorton, VA?
If you’re a man over the age of 30 and have been searching high and low online using phrases like “ED clinic near me” GAINSWave may be for you. That’s even more true if other treatments never worked. For many men, those unsuccessful solutions include pills like Viagra. If prescription pills don’t solve your ED problems, GAINSWave is a great option to consider. Academic studies show that shockwave therapy is successful where PDE5 inhibitors (like Cialis) fall short.
In fact, many urologists now consider shockwave therapy the greatest revolution in ED treatment in over a decade. Even men without erectile dysfunction use GAINSWave as a preventative therapy to keep their bedroom performance strong and avoid compromised blood vessels.
Some of the key benefits of GAINSWave procedures over other ED treatments include:
- No Drugs
- Backed by Clinical Studies and Extensive Medical Research
- Vast Record of Success
- FDA-Approved for Enhanced Sexual Wellness
- Available at Proactive Wellness Centers, PLC

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy for Women
Like men, women’s bodies change as they grow older. Often referred to as menopause, this time in a woman’s life can be stressful when the body uses energy differently, fat cells change, and hormones decline.
Many of the common symptoms and conditions associated with menopause are widely known and discussed, but there are many that are overlooked. At Proactive Wellness Centers, we’ve seen patients misdiagnosed with other illnesses that were actually caused by a decline in hormone levels. Our BHRT program for women focuses on the unique needs of women who are suffering from the common as well as the lesser-known symptoms of menopause.
Those symptoms may include:
- Hot Flashes
- Mood Swings
- Depression
- UTIs
- Irritability
- Anxiety
- Weight Gain
- Indigestion
- Osteoporosis
- Vertigo
- Anxiety Attacks
- Vaginal Dryness
- Fatigue
- More
What are Bioidentical Hormones?
Bioidentical hormones are also known as natural hormones. They are substances with the same chemical makeup as the hormones produced in your body. Hormones are not drugs – they occur naturally and are found in every human on earth. BHRT replaces hormones at a physiologic level that is not harmful to the body.
If you’re suffering through the symptoms of menopause, taking Midol isn’t going to solve any problems. Fortunately, our BHRT program for women is designed to eliminate many menopausal symptoms. That way, we give women a chance to recapture their energy levels and vitality with drugs or surgery. Contact our office today to learn more about bioidentical hormone replacement therapy and how it can help you recapture the joys of your youth.
Bredesen-Protocol Strategies for Improving Brain Health
We believe that a healthy brain is paramount to overall well-being. Unfortunately, little is known about promoting brain health, lowering the risk of dementia, or stabilizing symptoms for patients experiencing early signs.
After much research, however, Dr. Lawson from Proactive Wellness Centers determined that the Bredesen protocol provides the best evidence-based approach to diagnosing and treating cognitive decline.
The approach, created by Dr. Dale Bredesen, is called ReCODE. This protocol involves multiple strategies to pinpoint specific health issues contributing to Alzheimer’s Disease. The results of each strategy are measured using blood tests, dementia tests, cognitive evaluations, and other signs of overall health improvement. Now a Bredesen Certified doctor, Dr. Lawson now offers patients the full Bredesen ReCODE protocol to help them recover from debilitating illnesses like Alzheimer’s.
Through this exciting approach, patients have shown dramatic improvements in cognitive function. In some cases, they achieve a reversal of symptoms and have even returned to work.
Proactive Wellness Centers’ ReCODE program uses significant functional medicine experience and includes:
- Lifestyle Interventions
- Targeted Nutrients
- Therapeutic Diets
We’re thrilled to add this promising Alzheimer’s disease treatment for qualifying patients at Proactive Wellness Centers.
Chronic Disease Treatment
Long-term diseases like Lyme disease and Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) can ruin a person’s life and often leave them afraid to leave the house. To make matters worse, these chronic diseases are often initially misdiagnosed, complicating treatment and leaving the patient depressed and hopeless. And while some medical prescriptions can help, many chronic disease sufferers live without finding true relief.
At Proactive Wellness Centers, our innovative doctors have developed a comprehensive treatment program to address chronic diseases like CIRS and Lyme disease. Generally, our Chronic Disease Treatment follows SSRP protocols as defined below:
- Stop the progression of the disease while strengthening the immune system
- Stabilize patients by balancing hormones and restoring energy
- Reverse cellular, mitochondrial, and other damages caused by chronic diseases, based on lab markers and/or symptomatic expression
- Prevent further development of the chronic disease processes
Our SSRP protocol provides patients with a promising program based largely on the emerging bodies of evidence in the chronic disease space. This evidence is supported by peer-reviewed medical journals, clinical studies, and even double-blind placebo-controlled studies.
When choosing chronic disease treatments for patients, our team of doctors and clinicians focus on safety and efficacy before anything else. Typical therapies associated with our chronic disease treatment programs include:
- IV Vitamin Therapy
- Targeted Nutritional Supplements
- Compassionate Care and Personalized Service from Qualified Doctors
As an integrative practice, we use conventional medications when indicated, especially in cases of underlying co-infections and other areas where traditional medication offers the best course of treatment.
If you're at your wit's end living with a chronic disease, call Proactive Wellness Centers today. Our innovative treatments and therapies may be the key you need to unlock a new, healthy life.

Today, the Workhouse Prison Museum offers exhibits and historical displays that recall the prison’s century-old history, both for what it was intended and how it went horribly wrong. As part of renovations to the facility, a world-class art facility was opened in 2008. The Workhouse Arts Center also features six artist studios, galleries, a theatre, the Metropolitan School of the Arts, and many other spaces dedicated to the development of artistic education, creation, and display. Visitors to the site are encouraged to interact with the resident artists and participate in the many performing arts opportunities available, including theater, film, music, and dance.
Nearby, the maximum security facility that was once part of the larger prison system is being reclaimed as “Laurel Crest,” a mixed-use development with businesses, apartments, and homes. To learn about the ongoing transformation of Laurel Crest, you can visit the Fairfax County Government website.

A growing chain restaurant that specializes in poke bowls is making its first foray into Fairfax County.
Poke Bros. said it anticipated a “large audience of hungry customers” for Monday’s grand opening of its new franchise in Lorton Marketplace. Doors opened at 9453 Lorton Market St., Suite 17, at 11 a.m.
“Most fast food options out there are the same old fried food,” Poke Bros founder Xue Gong Chen said in a press release. “We’re proud that Poke Bros gives people something that’s quick and easy for lunch or dinner but with fresh, healthy ingredients and great flavor. Good food should be easy to grab on the go.”
A traditional Hawaiian cuisine, poke originated in pre-colonial days as cut-up raw fish that was eaten with fresh seaweed and preserved with sea salt. Influenced by Japanese immigrants, the dish evolved into its present-day form around the 1970s, becoming trendy in the mainland U.S. over the past decade — to some disapproval from Hawaiians.
Poke Bros was started in 2016 by Chen and two friends who first encountered the dish during a trip to California, according to its website. They opened the first restaurant in December of that year in Columbus, Ohio, with the goal of bringing “an inexpensive and accessible product” to the Midwest.
The fast-casual chain has now expanded to 72 locations in 13 states. The Lorton franchise is just the company’s second in Virginia, joining a location in Midlothian, and its first in the immediate D.C. area.
The menu features signature bowls — such as a “Johnny Utah” with salmon, avocado, edamame, cucumber, masago, Sriracha aioli and the chain’s exclusive, soy-based OG sauce — as well as a build-your-own option with rice and salad bases. There’s also mochi ice cream.
Anchored by Amazon Fresh, Lorton Marketplace is one of three main commercial centers emerging in the area once dominated by Lorton Prison. Other dining options in the shopping center include Glory Days Grill, Chipotle, Tropical Smoothie Cafe and the Japanese restaurant Tokyo One.

Workhouse Arts Center scares Lorton, Va. with ‘Game Over’ haunted trail

The Workhouse Arts Center is celebrating a decade of creative, spooky and haunted trails in Lorton, Virginia.
The 10th annual Workhouse Haunt walking experience delivers one more weekend of frights this Friday, Saturday and Sunday before closing with a grand finale on Tuesday night for Halloween.
“The haunted trail was started by our performing arts program in 2014,” director of performing arts Joseph Wallen told WTOP. “The Workhouse Arts Center is located on the site of a former part of the D.C. prison system. The buildings there are close to 100 years old. … The haunted trail started as a fundraiser for our performing arts program and it’s literally become a beast and it’s become bigger, so it covers the entire campus at this point.”
Every year, the team of artists concocts an original story behind the jump scares.
“Rather than having random folks hiding and jumping to scare you … our approach is to do it from a storytelling approach,” Wallen said. “Our back story this year is about Evelyn Revenant and her two kids — twins. In London in 1955, they happen across a curiosity shop. … It opens a portal to the underworld where all of these fantastical creatures and evil, demonic things come into our world through every copy of every board game or video game.”
Thus, this year’s theme is “Game Over,” riffing on board games from Connect Four to Twister.
“We’re asking guests to come play along with us,” Wallen said. “They’re seeing semi-familiar versions of games that we might have in our own homes. … There might be a room that has a rich uncle character [like ‘Monopoly’], there might be a room that’s a mystery game [like ‘Clue’] … there’s things that involve dice. … Our guests walk away thinking, ‘Hey, I feel like that was ‘D&D ‘ … this reminds me of that video game [‘Tetris’] with the falling blocks.”
It truly takes an army of artists to put something this expansive together.
“This year, we have about 180 folks working with us: a combination of our creative team, the designers, the builders, the scare actors, the techies and support, all of the front-of-house people, the ticket takers, the bartenders,” Wallen said. “We have about 80 people each night that make it happen. … It’s about 60 or so scare actors on any given night. The scare actors are given scenes grouped into what’s called ‘neighborhoods.'”
On Friday and Saturday, gates open at 6:30 p.m. with the final group dispatched by 10:30 p.m. On Sunday, gates open at 6:30 p.m. with the final group dispatched by 9:30 p.m. On Halloween, gates open at 6 p.m. with the final group dispatched by 8:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to buy tickets ahead of time online to stagger timed entries.
While you wait to be dispatched, you can enjoy a bar with live music Friday, Saturday and Halloween night in the center courtyard located between the old prison buildings.
“They can just hang out … in our large waiting area, a large tented pavilion,” Wallen said. “We’ve got live bands most nights, we also have food trucks, a bar set up with soft drinks, beer, wine, cocktails, snacks and drinks.”
Once you’re dispatched, you’ll move through the trail in groups of six to eight people.
The trail covers approximately a mile and takes about 20 minutes to complete.
Tickets are $30 per person. You can also donate canned goods to the Lorton Community Action Center food bank for admission.

LORTON, VA — South County High School and 16 other Fairfax County high schools received recognition for excellence in Advanced Placement programs.
The College Board, which manages the college-level AP programs and tests, recognized South County High School on the 2023 AP School Honor Roll with a Silver distinction.
The distinction goes to schools demonstrating excellence in their AP programs with an emphasis on broad access and consistent student outcomes. AP tests are one way students can earn college credits before graduating from high school.
Silver distinction schools must have at least 50 percent of seniors taking one or more AP exams during high school, 30 percent or more scoring 3 or higher on at least one AP exam, and 5 percent or more taking five or more AP exams throughout high school.
Other Fairfax County schools receiving Silver distinction on the AP School Honor Roll were West Potomac High School, Centreville High School, Fairfax High School, Hayfield Secondary School, West Springfield High School and Westfield High School.
Find out what's happening in Lortonwith free, real-time updates from Patch.
Schools with the highest Platinum distinction included Langley High School, McLean High School, Oakton High School, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology and Woodson High School. These schools have at least 80 percent of seniors taking one or more AP exams during high school, 50 percent or more scoring 3 or higher on at least one AP exam, and 15 percent or more taking five or more AP exams throughout high school.
Schools with Gold distinction were Chantilly High School, Lake Braddock Secondary School and Madison High School. These schools have at least 65 percent of seniors taking one or more AP exams during high school, 35 percent or more scoring 3 or higher on at least one AP exam, and 10 percent or more taking five or more AP exams throughout high school.
Below the Silver distinction, Falls Church High School and Herndon High School received Bronze distinction. These schools have at least 40 percent of seniors taking one or more AP exams during high school, 25 percent or more scoring 3 or higher on at least one AP exam, and 2 percent or more taking five or more AP exams throughout high school.
AP course offerings may differ by school. Fairfax County Public Schools pays AP exam fees for the first six exams for each student, giving them a chance to earn college credit. Scores of 3, 4 or 5 on an AP exam can result in college credit, but minimum scores for college credits vary by college.
