Our programs are all about reversing and slowing the aging process, preventing disease, and treating chronically ill patients. We utilize a three-pronged approach: Firstly, we equip you with the knowledge that is required to take charge of your health and achieve optimal well-being. Secondly, we focus on disease prevention by providing a thorough evaluation using comprehensive diagnostics and the information provided on your health history form. Finally, we work closely with you to implement a rejuvenation program consisting of science-based treatments that reduce cellular degeneration, promote tissue regeneration, and help you live life at a healthy weight.

The program described below is for patients with a minimum of 30 lbs. to lose and is designed to achieve this safely with the use of lab-driven therapies that help to overcome weight loss resistance and promote fat loss. Some of the weight loss medicines and tools we use to help you get healthy may include:
Semaglutide

This FDA-approved treatment has demonstrated impressive results, assisting patients in reducing body weight, managing blood glucose levels, and enhancing overall health. Our experienced medical team personalizes semaglutide treatments to align with your specific goals and needs, ensuring a customized approach to your weight loss needs.
An early study of 2,000 obese adults compared people using semaglutide plus a diet and exercise program with people who made the same lifestyle changes without semaglutide. After 68 weeks, half of the participants using semaglutide lost 15% of their body weight, and nearly a third lost 20%.
Tirzepatide
If you've experimented with diet and weight loss strategies without success, tirzepatide from Proactive Wellness Centers could be the solution you've been looking for. This cutting-edge medical weight loss treatment leverages the advantages of both GLP-1 receptor agonists and GIP receptor agonists, offering a dual mechanism that enhances and accelerates weight loss. Our highly-rated weight loss centers utilize the power of tirzepatide to deliver a comprehensive and effective approach to weight management.
Total Metabolism Tracking with Lumen
The Lumen device measures carb and fat burn using a highly validated test of CO2 that is detected when you breathe into the device. This has been validated to closely approximate real metabolism. All you have to do is breathe into the device daily to get helpful recommendations and better understand how your body burns fat. Once our team understands how your metabolism works and burns fat, we can alter your medical weight loss plan Near Germantown, MD.

Our weight loss coaching schedule is customized for you and your body. Generally, you'll visit our weight loss clinic eight times over a 12-week period. Here's a breakdown of our health coaching schedule when used in a typical medical weight loss plan:
Visit 1
Discussion of Body Composition and Patient Goals
We'll discuss your body composition in detail. During this first step, you'll come to the office for bi-weekly visits if geographically feasible. We'll discuss the role of our Lumen device in terms of metabolism tracking.
Action: We'll advise you to keep a food diary for the next visit. Use the Lumen device daily.
Visit 2
Discuss Food Diary and Make Appropriate Suggestions for Improvement
This step focuses on total caloric intake and healthy eating. Go deep here as much as time allows. For your medical weight loss plan to be truly successful, you've got to set the foundation for healthy eating. You can't just go to Southern Social near Germantown, MD and gorge yourself on your favorite foods after working out. As such, during this step, we'll explain that we do not recommend "dieting." The goal is to change your eating habits so that they can be maintained well after your weight-loss program is over.
Action: We'll ask you to keep an exercise diary for next week. We may also suggest that you get an activity tracker for more accurate tracking.
Visit 3
We'll ask you to keep an exercise diary for next week. We may also suggest that you get an activity tracker for more accurate tracking.
This week, we'll focus on anaerobic exercise for at least 30 minutes 4-5 times per week. You should prioritize aerobic exercises. If they only have time for one or the other, then advise anaerobic.
Action: We'll advise you to get a new body composition reading prior to next week's visit.
Visit 4
Discuss Progress of Lack Thereof vs. Week One Baseline.
Keep in mind that at this point, you're at the building stage of your weight-loss medication, so we are not expecting a lot of fat loss. In terms of medical weight loss Near Germantown, MD, losing 3-4 lbs. of fat in the first month while on semaglutide is a big success. Many patients with 75-100 lbs. to lose report losing up to 25 lbs. in the first month. We'll also check in with you to ensure you've been compliant with dietary and exercise recommendations and medication adherence.
Action: If there has been no fat loss or even fat gain, we'll need to discuss the case with our medical director for possible additional interventions. We may advise you to track sleep for next week, preferably with a sleep tracking device, but if not, then just manual tracking (time to bed, time waking up, how many times they awake for the night, sleep hygiene questions).

Top 5 Ways to Maintain Your Medical Weight Loss Near Germantown, MD
You'll have the chance to exit and divert from your journey, but by staying the course, you can reach your destination and keep unhealthy weight off for good. But doing so isn't always easy. That's especially true when there are distractions and fast-food restaurants around every corner.
Keep these science-based tips in mind to help stay on track and say "no" to foods and behaviors that will set you back.
-
Treat Yourself to a Healthy Breakfast Daily
Maintaining a consistent eating routine is crucial for managing your food intake effectively. This might mean eating at the same times every day or opting for similar meals each day. By establishing a structured approach to your eating habits, you create a helpful framework to follow, which can significantly benefit your health without the need to fixate on calories and portion sizes. This structure can aid in regulating your appetite, boosting your energy levels, and enhancing your overall diet. Moreover, starting your day with a large, high-protein breakfast has been linked to better control over your appetite, improved blood sugar levels, and more effective calorie management throughout the day.
2. Try to Stay Consistent
At Proactive Wellness Centers, we often highlight how important consistency is for weight loss, as sticking to your health changes is the most effective way to achieve results. However, consistency also plays a key role in keeping unwanted weight off for long periods of time. It's not solely about sticking to change; it's about developing daily habits and routines that pave the way for success.
3. Keep Exercising!
Engaging in regular physical activity is a proven way to effectively manage your weight, as it aids in burning calories and optimizing the use of the food you eat. The amount of exercise needed to keep your weight in check can differ based on individual factors and the types of workouts you choose. At Proactive Wellness Centers, we offer personalized medical weight loss plans Near Germantown, MD for our patients and provide exercise tips tailored to your body, age, and other considerations. This approach ensures you find a balance that prevents burnout and helps you avoid overexertion.
4. Say "Goodbye" to Processed Food
Enjoying a honey bun occasionally isn't going to kill you. However, when it comes to losing weight, it's crucial to limit or even eliminate processed foods from your meals. Foods that are heavily processed usually have empty calories and tend to contain high amounts of added sugars. Empty calories refer to calories that offer little to no nutritional value or health benefits. That makes them ideal for cutting out of your diet. Although managing your weight revolves around calorie management at its core, studies have associated the consumption of processed foods, particularly those rich in added sugars, with higher body weights and a greater likelihood of weight gain.
Moreover, research indicates that decreasing the intake of heavily processed foods might be more effective for managing weight. One study revealed that the body could burn up to twice as many calories when digesting simple foods compared to heavily processed ones. Additionally, ongoing studies continue to show that a diet predominantly made up of whole foods is linked to improved weight management outcomes.
5. Eat a Lot of Non-Starchy Veggies
Vegetables are packed with nutrition rather than empty calories. They offer a wealth of nutrients while contributing very few calories to your diet. This means you can enjoy greater nutritional benefits without consuming large amounts of food. For instance, two cups of broccoli come in at just 60 calories, while two cups of cooked pasta can spike up to nearly 500 calories. Plus, since our bodies require proper nutrition to function well, some studies suggest that increasing your intake of nutrient-dense foods like non-starchy vegetables can help keep hunger at bay. By loading up on low-calorie veggies, you can feel satisfied without overeating.

Family-Owned SS Brothers Pizza Taps into Growth Opportunity, Citing Brand Strength and Market Potential
GERMANTOWN, Md., Sept. 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Marco's Pizza, one of the nation's fastest-growing pizza brands, announces a new three-unit franchise agreement to develop in Germantown, Maryland and the surrounding area. Behind the multi-unit deal are cousins Sri Masabathula and Sasi Vaddi, operating under SS Brothers Pizza, LLC – a family-run venture rooted in drive, grit, and a shared love for great pizza.
Masabathula, who got his start in the industry delivering pizzas for Papa John's, always dreamed of owning his own pizza franchise. While he briefly pivoted to a career in IT, he quickly realized that his passion and long-term vision lived in the community connections of the pizza business.
Post this"Pizza never left my mind," said Masabathula. "Marco's stood out to us because of its commitment to operational excellence and quality ingredients – something we saw firsthand after visiting multiple stores and meeting other franchisees. There's a lot of brand loyalty here in Maryland, and Marco's is primed for even more growth."
Vaddi brings two decades of experience in financial services, creating the perfect complementary partnership with Masabathula's operational background. Together, they aim to open their first Marco's Pizza location within 12 months, followed by their second in 18 months and the third in 24 months – all within the Germantown area.
"Our vision is to build something lasting – a family legacy that also serves the local community," said Vaddi. "Marco's offered the right model, strong support, and room to grow in a market that's still wide open."
Marco's Pizza currently has four locations open and operating across Maryland, and continued interest from prospective franchisees across the state. The Germantown DMA in particular is showing strong demand, setting the stage for these new stores to capitalize on market potential.
As Marco's continues expanding its national footprint, Maryland remains a priority growth market. Additional expansion plans are underway, with mapping in progress across key regions of the state.
"We're proud to welcome Sri and Sasi to the Marco's family," said Gerardo Flores, Chief Development Officer of Marco's Pizza. "Their passion, business acumen, and commitment to quality reflect exactly the kind of operators we are excited to have be a part of the brand. We look forward to supporting their journey as they introduce Marco's to a new community."
Prospects are taking note of the business opportunity, as the Marco's Franchising Franchise Disclosure Document reports $1.3M AUV for the top 25% of franchised stores in 2024.*
To further support expansion, Marco's recently launched a Franchise Development Royalty Incentive Program designed to reduce barriers for qualified multi-unit owners. With early-stage royalty incentives starting at 0%**, plus real estate, construction, and operations support, the brand offers a streamlined, resource-rich path to growth.

On Wednesday, Governor Wes Moore joined AeroVironment (AV) to celebrate the grand opening of its $12.5 million defense research and manufacturing facility in Germantown, which is expected to create over 200 high-tech jobs and expand the company’s statewide workforce to 600. The project represents a major investment in Maryland’s aerospace and defense sector and received support from both state and county economic development programs.
Per the news release distributed on Wednesday, July 16: “Governor Wes Moore today joined global defense technology leader AV, also known as AeroVironment, to mark the official grand opening of its $12.5 million next-generation defense research and manufacturing facility in Germantown, Maryland. The 57,000-square-foot facility represents a significant milestone for AV and a major investment in Maryland’s lighthouse industries, as the is expected to create more than 200 high-tech, high-paying jobs—bringing the company’s statewide employment to 600 workers.
“AV’s reinvestment in Maryland strengthens our state’s position as a global hub for aerospace and defense,” said Gov. Moore. “By expanding its footprint in Germantown, AV continues to drive innovation in cyber, aviation, and emerging tech — creating high-skilled jobs and keeping Maryland at the forefront of cutting-edge research and discovery.” AV is a defense technology leader across air, land, sea, space, and cyber. The company develops and deploys autonomous systems, advanced cyber and electronic technologies, space-based platforms, and energy systems to meet defense mission needs. With a national manufacturing footprint and a deep innovation pipeline, AV delivers future-defining defense capabilities at speed and scale, with precise operational relevance.
“We are thrilled to celebrate this grand opening alongside so many esteemed partners and stakeholders who helped make this expansion happen, most notably our dedicated team of engineers and innovators whose ingenuity supports not only AV’s growth but our nation’s security,” said AV Real Estate and Facility Operations Vice President Deane Edelman. “This facility is more than a building—it is a hub for innovation, collaboration, and mission-driven work that will shape the future of defense technology.”
The expansion is part of AV’s continued growth following its May acquisition of BlueHalo and reflects the company’s deep commitment to advancing national security capabilities through next-generation technology. The facility’s advanced engineering labs, production spaces, and collaborative environments will accelerate mission-critical technologies like its PANTHER phased array antenna for hypersonic tracking and telemetry; Argus perimeter security system; and many of its artificial intelligence solutions.
“AV is focused on addressing the Department of Defense’s highest national security priorities,” said AV Space, Cyber, and Directed Energy Segment President Trip Ferguson. “That’s why we’re not only dedicated to the development of critical defense technologies, like autonomous systems, counter-drone systems, and space capabilities, but also to strengthening U.S. defense manufacturing capabilities. This new state-of-the-art facility in Maryland is another capstone in AV’s nationwide manufacturing network and a testament to the strength of our nation’s Defense Industrial Base.”
The Moore-Miller Administration supported the project through a $1 million conditional loan from the Maryland Department of Commerce’s Advantage Maryland program and a $50,000 grant through the Partnership for Workforce Quality program. Montgomery County also provided a $100,000 conditional grant through its Economic Development Fund.
“On behalf of the State of Maryland, we are proud to support AV’s expansion in Montgomery County. This new facility’s impact on autonomous systems and cybersecurity services will keep our state competitive and thriving with cutting-edge technology,” said Maryland Department of Commerce Secretary Harry Coker, Jr. “And with the addition of 200 new highly-skilled jobs, Maryland will remain a Mid-Atlantic leader in the aerospace and defense industry.”
“As we continue to expand R&D and manufacturing in Montgomery County, especially in advanced fields like biotechnology and aerospace communications, we are excited to welcome AV to our community,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “We appreciate their recognition of our strong talent pool and welcome them as an employer of more than 200 high-tech workers in Germantown.”
“Montgomery County proudly celebrates innovation and investments in cutting-edge research and technologies,” said Montgomery County Council President Kate Stewart. “BlueHalo’s momentous expansion will boost our economy and bring high-paying, highly skilled jobs and attract top talent to Montgomery County.”
The new Germantown facility is AV’s seventh Maryland location, with additional offices in Annapolis Junction, Columbia, Jessup, and Stevensville—bringing the company’s statewide footprint to more than 176,000 square feet. AV employs 3,750 individuals in 30 U.S. locations across 14 states built to design, manufacture, and deliver next-generation technologies to serve the nation’s most critical missions.
“Congratulations to AV on the opening of their facility here in Germantown,” said Minkoff Development Co-President and Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation Board Member Andy Chod. “Minkoff Development is proud to have built this state-of-the-art building and MCEDC looks forward to continuing to support AV’s business needs as they transition into this new facility. Montgomery County is home to many of the top defense technology companies in the nation, and AV’s continued growth and investment in this area is a testament to the county’s dynamic and innovative business ecosystem.”

The tradition of Germantown, Maryland’s Oktoberfest was interrupted when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. But it’s back again after returning in 2024.
Zeina Davis, with the Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce, said it will feature a parade, a spooky dance party contest, music, and of course, beer.
“We have amazing breweries like Waredaca and Lone Oak, there will be about five in all,” she said, but there will also be lots of family-friendly activities.
The fall event returns on Saturday, Oct. 4. The family-friendly dance party contest starts at 11 a.m., and the winner of the costume contest will be crowned parade marshals. The parade will follow afterwards at 11:30 a.m. down Century Boulevard.
Davis said Germantown’s Oktoberfest has a unique, international flavor, reflecting the surrounding community.
“We take it for granted that we live in such a wonderful melting pot and are exposed to all these different cultures and people,” she said, noting the food on offer with flavors from around the world.
When she talks about the upcoming event in Germantown, Davis’ excitement is clear. Part of it is her sense that Germantown is underappreciated, and she can’t wait to show it off.
“I don’t think people realize that Germantown is the third most populous community in Maryland after Columbia and Baltimore, and the most populous in Montgomery County,” she said. “It’s a cool place, it’s got cool stuff,” and lots of local attractions and businesses to explore.
